SOS Yachting has opened a new office in Athens, Greece in a bid to better serve charter operators in the region.

The financial service provider said the move was driven by increasing demand for fiscal representation from charter operators, along with the growth in the region’s popularity as a cruising destination. The office will be headed by Maria Ntouka-Montesantou as MD of SOS Yachting Greece.

The Mediterranean has so much to offer and it’s clear Greece is now very much at the forefront of interest,” said Ntouka-Montesantou. “With the opening of SOS Yachting Greece, we look forward to offering our clients total focus and the local support they deserve.”

Currently, charter operators must establish a physical presence in the country before being permitted to operate. SOS Yachting added that the new office will monitor the progress of a recently proposed legislation that would simplify the process of allowing non-Greek yachts to charter in the country’s waters.

Frédéric Dormeuil, CEO, SOS Yachting said this is the perfect timing for the opening of a new office in Greece.

“As we note evident trends for clients wishing to start their charters in Greek waters, offering SOS Yachting’s trusted support makes great sense,” said Dormeuil. “I’m delighted to have our new country office led by Ms. Maria Ntouka-Montesantou, the best-qualified person who has the ultimate understanding of Greek yachting procedures.”
