Richie Blake is a chartered engineer and Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology. After serving at sea as an Engineer he gained a degree in Engineering and joined Lloyds Register. Whilst working for Lloyds Register, Richie was involved with a number of large passenger ship new construction projects in Italy, France and Japan. He was also the Lead Auditor for LR Japan for the ISM and ISPS Codes.

After leaving Lloyds Register he spent a short time with Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding as their Senior Engineer working on a number of new construction projects across their fleets. Richie moved to the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry (CISR) in 2006 and served as the Deputy Director in the European Regional Office responsible for all technical operations and policy outside of the Americas and Caribbean regions. During his time with the CISR, Richie was also involved with the introduction of the Passenger Yacht Code (PYC) and the development of the Large Yacht Code into LY3.

Richie joined Döhle Yachts in November 2015 as the Director of the company’s Technical Services and was formally appointed as the Managing Director of the Döhle Yachts Group at the end of 2019.

Olivier develops its skills in structuring, credit risk and project management acquired in a Corporate Banking World with a focus on Asset Finance. He develops its skills in various positions as relationship manager, credit analyst, portfolio manager, credit structurer and credit project manager. His specialties include deals origination and structuring, risk management, reengineering and IT projects.

In 2002, he discovered that “God must have been a ship owner or a yacht owner because he placed raw materials and paradises far from where they were needed and covered 2/3 of the earth with water”. A lifelong love for all things nautical began with a cold-water baptism in dinghies on the Solent before a gap year took me to the warmer waters of the Whitsunday’s where I skippered yacht charters. As Camper and Nicholson’s had supplied boats for army team building, so this seemed a port of call for a job.

Together with his co-Director, Caroline, the pair have over 10 years’ experience working as deck and interior crew onboard luxury private and charter yachts. Marianne spent over 10 years at sea sailing on various yachts as mate then later as chief engineer. She speaks English, Dutch, French and German fluently and considers herself as a world citizen. She is very passionate about her time at sea and loves crossing the Atlantic to work during busy charter seasons in the Caribbean and owner trips in the Mediterranean.

Marianne spent numerous years in the engine rooms of motor and sailing yachts, during which she has developed a true passion for engineering.

In 2003, she started as an assistant in the Camper & Nicholsons yacht management division and pursued her career in the maintenance and compliance of yachts under management. She swiftly became a specialist in ISM & ISPS compliance, an area in which she became the manager for many years.

Furthering her knowledge, she also became one of the few certified ILO trainers in the application of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 in the yachting industry. She is highly interested in any new regulations which affect yachts in general and seafarers alike.

She passed on her compliance responsibilities of the division in 2013 and moved to the senior fleet manager’s position, looking after a large fleet of yachts.

In early 2019, she became the head of yacht management and manages the entire team – a job she also does with passion and dedication.

Always involved in teaching and making people grow, Marianne likes to encourage personal development for all in the industry.

Outside of work, Marianne loves spending time outdoors. She is a keen hiker, kite surfer and takes time to go sailing when possible.

Following his secondary and higher education in the Netherlands, Italy and UK, Engel started his career as a loss adjuster in the UK, determining insurance claims resulting from damages goods on board of ships. In 1994, he was employed by the International Chamber of Shipping representing shipping companies at international level (IMO). In 1996 he joined Lloyd’s Register where he worked as a field surveyor in various offices around the world. He was appointed Manager of the Rotterdam Technical Support Office in October 2005 following a brief period of Head of the Rotterdam Statutory Department. From January 2012 his career took a more commercial turn by leading the commercial team in Rotterdam mainly from a new construction perspective.  Engel has managed the yacht segment from commercial, technical, and marketing point of view including representing LR during industry and governmental meetings since the year 2000, becoming the Segment Director in 2021. He is always looking for solutions and driving LR forward.

Franc holds a BSc in Maritime Sciences as well as an MSc in Maintenance and Safety Management. He is also a qualified deck and class 1 engineering officer. After progressing through the ranks on cruise ships, Franc became a Class Surveyor and was involved in the development of the MCA Large Yacht Code. Since coming ashore, Franc has worked as a superintendent managing commercial ships and carried out numerous new build projects and refits across the globe. Representing MYBA yacht managers, he was also involved with the implementation of ILO MLC2006 regulations into the MCA large yacht code.

Richard Lambert, former Managing Director Asia and Senior Broker, is now Head of Sales implementing the overall strategy to boost sales across the board. He joined Burgess in 2005 as managing director of the OceanStyle semi-custom division, then left to become M Class Director for Princess Yachts in 2013. In 2014 he returned to Burgess as a senior Sales Broker, specialising in the semi-custom sector, and in 2015 took on responsibility for overseeing Burgess’ operations in Asia. Richard has garnered a wealth of experience in the yachting industry, managing the Spanish network of Princess offices and running his own yacht brokerage company, also in Spain, that specialised in production motor and sports yachts. Prior to joining Burgess in 2005 he spent four years as International Sales Manager for Azimut Yachts in the UK.
Richard has a BSc (Hons) in Geography and Oceanography from Plymouth University and is a keen sailor and skier.

With a degree in Mechanical Engineering in Rome (Italy) and a master from Southampton (UK) University’s Yacht & Small Craft course, in 2011 Matteo began his career in The Netherlands where he worked with key superyacht shipbuilders as Naval Architect and Project Manager. In 2015, he moved to the UK and joined a leading international naval architecture consultancy firm where his role evolved into leading the business and commercial activities for the superyacht segment.

In 2024, Matteo joined RINA as Marine North-West Europe Technical Support Principal Engineer where he ensures clients benefits from the best services both in terms of technical excellence and timely responses. Based in the Southampton office, he is responsible for the business development strategies, forming long term partnerships and commercial activities in the Region.

Matteo has served as member of the executive committee of Superyacht UK, the Great Britain’s superyacht industry advocate association and he is a proud Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

Nicola studied Psychology at the University of Exeter and shortly afterwards started her superyacht career 15+ years ago.  She combined working at sea with a period in recruitment and in 2015 became the Co-Owner & Director of Wilsonhalligan Recruitment.  Since then, Nicola has enjoyed recruiting for all departments and is also deeply involved in the wider maritime community, actively contributing to industry events & forums, mentoring seafarers moving ashore as well as raising awareness of Yacht Crew Help, a charity dedicated to supporting yacht crew through difficult times.  Nicola is also determined to try and raise the standards of recruitment within the yachting industry and is an active member of the Raising The Bar Recruitment work group.

Derek Munro

Derek Munro is the Director of Divergent Yachting and has been in the professional Superyacht industry since 1988, starting out as a Captain and Engineer.

Derek grew up in Malaysia and the Solomon Islands and was educated in New Zealand. He built this first vessel at the age of 8 (a 2.8m canoe dug from one log) and has since been passionate about most things related to the sea.

After University and a year in employment raising travel funds, Derek travelled globally, including many years as a Captain / Engineer before moving ashore when children came along.

Since 2004 Derek has worked as an Owners Representative on 14 new build yachts and recently delivered one of the world’s largest sailing yachts, SY Black Pearl.

Currently Derek and his team are involved in projects, both sail and motor, ranging in size from 60m to >100m.

Ian has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector having held a variety of roles including Financial Controller, Finance Director and Economist. Ian has gained significant experience as a controller and director for several high profile Monaco family offices, ensuring excellent portfolio fund growth and governance and managing the succession of families’ assets. Panos was originally engaged in both contentious and non-contentious work in the commercial shipping sector for a number of years after qualifying in 1996, but has since gone on to focus almost exclusively on yacht work for the majority of his career. After graduating from University, Julian joined Lloyd’s Register in 2004 as a Surveyor in the Yacht and Special Service Craft Department. In 2014, he joined the Fire & Safety Plan Appraisal Department as Lead Specialist (Yachts) and was responsible for the appraisal of plans and documentation for various superyacht projects. In 2017, he joined the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry and is now responsible for the survey and certification of superyachts from both a new build and in-service perspective and specialises in passenger yachts. He also acts in the capacity of Code Secretariat for the REG Yacht Codes and participates in various industry working groups regarding regulatory development.  Julian is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects.

Peter Wilson – Originally hailing from the UK, Peter settled in Newport in the late 80’s. Nick Zeher, partner at Robert Allen Law, handles complex yacht-related litigation for the South Florida based law firm. Growing up on the ocean, Nick obtained his US Coast Guard Captain’s license at 18 years of age and began what would be more than a decade as a full-time, professional yacht captain. While carrying out captain duties, Nick attended St. Thomas University School of Law obtaining his Juris Doctor degree in 2017. Nick spent nearly two years as a Public Defender in Palm Beach County where he handled well over 1,000 cases and tried over 25 jury trials. Nick combines his court room experience with his knowledge of yachts making him a natural fit for both the litigation and transaction teams of yacht lawyers handling vessel construction and refit contracts, broker disputes, purchase and sales agreements and financing agreements. Nick is a regular contributor to industry publications with articles on many topics from yacht insurance to the effects of Russian oligarchs in yachting.
