Sanlorenzo has secured a controlling stake in luxury furniture company Duerre. The Italian shipyard signed a binding offer to acquire a further 33% stake in the firm, bringing its total share to 66%.

The acquisition follows the previous purchase of 33% of the company in April last year. Sanlorenzo said that securing Duerre’s majority shares represents a “strategic opportunity” in its continued approach to vertically integrate its supply chain.

Duerre specialises in the production of luxury furniture mainly for superyachts, as well as high end real estate, offices, hospitality and commercial buildings.

The deal is expected to officially close in a few days. Law firm Musumeci, Altara, Desana and Associates aided Sanlorenzo, namely by Toti Musumeci, partner and Leonardo Musumeci, senior associate.

Other Italian shipyards are vertically integrating supply chains too. Recently, The Italian Sea Group bought furniture company Celi.
