This week has seen two bids for the faltering yacht builder, Perini Navi. The Italian Sea Group announced on Tuesday it had placed a €47m bid for the acquisition of the “entire corporate complex” of Perini following its bankruptcy in January of this year. Hours later, Sanlorenzo and Ferretti Group revealed they also had made an irrevocable bid for an undisclosed fee.

After it first declared its interest back in July, the Italian Sea Group’s offer includes increasing the space for new constructions, expand the reference market of Perini and strengthen its position in the sailing yacht sphere.

Whilst Ferretti Group and Sanlorenzo have made a 50:50 proposal through the joint venture, Restart S.p.A. The offer includes a business plan aimed at restarting production and relaunching the company. However, most importantly say the firms, is to ensure the growth and continuity of employment for the workers of the two shipyards in Viareggio and La Spezia.

Ferretti Group and Sanlorenzo have declared the auction price to be too high, initially at €62.5 million, then dropped to €53.5 million.

In addition to these first bidding parties, Palumbo Superyachts had previously shown interest in the shipyard, whether they will place a bid for the shipyard is not yet known.
