Dutch shipbuilder, Oceanco’s Project 721, the largest superyacht it has ever built, has just launched at the builder’s Zwijndrecht-based facility, on its way to Alblasserdam, where the final fitting-out will take place.

Delivery is scheduled for 2022 after the sailing yacht completes sea trials. Upon delivery the superyacht will come with a series of world records, including the title of the world’s largest sailing yacht, the largest superyacht built by Oceanco, and the longest vessel to be built in the Netherlands.

Supposedly based on the Black Pearl, one of Oceanco’s most recognisable builds, which is also the world’s largest and most advanced DynaRig sailing yacht, Project 721 is a three-decker measuring 127 meters (417 feet) in total length. It will feature three masts and a bowsprit.

Along with the delivery of Project Y721, the owner, rumoured to be Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, will also take delivery of a shadow yacht. This vessel will be a custom version of the YS 7512 model from Damen Yachts. It will carry crew and personnel, provide additional space for meetings and entertainment, and host toys, including a helicopter.

Oceanco has not confirmed the owner’s identity. However, reports in trade publications note that Bezos bought the project in 2018 for near $500m.
