Turkish boatbuilder Ares Shipyard is developing a number of luxury vessels under its new superyacht brand Ares Yachts.

The Antalya-based company, launched in 2006 by the Kalafatoğlu family, announced the marque at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Projects under way include the 62-metre steel-hulled cruising ketch Simena, designed by Turkey’s Taka Yacht Design and UK-based Design Unlimited.

Simena, which features a carbon-epoxy superstructure, will be powered by hybrid propulsion and is set to achieve a top speed of 15 knots.

Ares Yachts is also building the 50-metre luxury motor yacht Spitfire, based on its award-winning offshore patrol boat the 2018 Ares 150 BOLD.

Spitfire has been designed by Southampton, UK-based Lateral Naval Architects and London’s Bannenberg & Rowell Design and will be capable of a top speed of 23 knots.

The company, known for its naval and utility support vessels, is also working with Italy’s Hot Lab on Project Atlas, a 54-metre fast displacement explorer motor yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.

“Whether it’s a sleek and modern superyacht or a majestic ocean explorer, we aim to redefine what is possible on the big blue,” said Ares Shipyard chairman Kerim Kalafatoğlu.
