The Palma International Boat Show (PIBS) plans to host an ‘Innovation Corner’ at the Palma Superyacht Village. It will be supported by global startup hub for the yachting industry, Yachting Ventures.

Taking place from April 27th to May 1st, this year’s event will host more than 300 companies at Palma’s Moll Vell Marina, Mallorca. Yachting Ventures said the initiative is a bid to promote dialogue between yachting startups and industry professionals.

Arne Ploch, MD, Palma Superyacht Village welcomed the partnership and opportunity to promote new nautical initiatives. “As an island, we understand the tremendous contribution of the yachting industry to our economy and acknowledge the significance of remaining innovative,” he said.

Yachting Ventures provides startups with networking events, industry education and other opportunities that founders need to scale and raise investment.  Its founder, Gabbi Richardson, said: “We’re delighted to offer startups the opportunity to showcase their solutions to the industry by participating in the inaugural Innovation Corner at PIBS.”

The Innovation Corner is also backed by the Government of Mallorca. According to Palma Superyacht Village, over 700 locally-based nautical companies, that employ more than 4,000 people, generate more than €420m for Mallorca’s economy every year.

With Europe’s yachting show season nearing, Ploch said he is eager to meet the start-ups participating in the Innovation Corner and offer them the opportunity to showcase their products and services at PLIBS.

Richardson agreed. “There’s always a real buzz at this show, and I grew up in Mallorca, so the event is personally one of my favourites in the yachting calendar,” he said. [PIBS] signifies the start of summer in the Mediterranean, and it is especially important because it inclusively spans all sizes of yachts and watercraft.”
