IGY Marinas to develop Neom superyacht marina
IGY Marinas is to develop and operate a new superyacht marina in Sindalah, Saudi Arabia as part of the Neom “smart city” development project. Once established, the marina will join IGY’s international superyacht marina network as part of the new partnership between the marina group and Neom.
Located on the north coast of the Red Sea, the marina (pictured) will be one of the first destinations of Neom open for new arrivals to the region. The facility will offer 86 berths for yachts up to 50m (164ft) and dry dock facilities for superyachts up to 180m (590ft).
“Sindalah perfectly integrates with IGY’s global vision to connect the world’s most incredible yachting destinations across our growing marina network,” said Tom Mukamal, CEO, IGY Marinas. “The addition of Neom to the IGY platform provides superyacht owners, captains and charter guests destinations, service and convenience.”
Neom is a planned “smart city” in the Tabuk Province of northwestern Saudi Arabia with an area of around 26,500 km² launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud in 2017. According to the developers, Neom will include multiple regions, including a floating industrial complex, a global trade hub, a 100-mile-long linear city (dubbed The Line) and tourist resorts —all powered by renewable energy sources. The project is thought to have cost the Saudi Prince hundreds of billions of dollars.
“Sindalah will be one of the most alluring and vibrant yachting destinations in the world, thanks to its strategic location, outstanding amenities and stunning natural landscapes,” said Antoni Vives, head of Urban Development, Neom. “This partnership with IGY is one of many steps we are taking to achieve our vision of reshaping the global yachting calendar, with Neom located one day’s cruising distance from the Mediterranean Sea.”
The new Sindalah superyacht marina is expected to open at the beginning of 2024.
