Elcome International offers SpaceX’s Starlink for superyachts
Elcome International has added SpaceX’s Starlink broadband internet to its portfolio of maritime connectivity services.
Powered by one of the world’s largest constellations of satellites in low Earth orbit, SpaceX claims that Starlink offers speeds up to 100 times faster and at a fraction of the cost of traditional satellite internet services.
“We are so excited to bring the benefits of Starlink to our customers,” said Jimmy Grewal, executive director, Elcome. “It’s not just about fast Internet, but the opportunity for us to implement real-time remote monitoring and autonomy solutions for these customers in ways that were not previously possible.”
Grewal also highlighted the importance of crew benefitting from better connectivity with family and friends while at sea.
Since its founding in 1970, the Dubai-based company has provided its superyacht clients with connectivity solutions using terrestrial and satellite technology. According to Elcome, Starlink is one of the most “significant advancements in communications for the maritime industry” in decades.
Orders will be processed through the company’s offices in Spain, Dubai, and Singapore.
Elcome is one of the first providers of the service since SpaceX announced Starlink Maritime for superyachts, oil rigs and commercial vessels in July last year.
