Cecil Wright sues Revolut founder for €17.5m

Chris Cecil-Wright says the “strength of my conviction” is leading him to sue the founder of Revolut for €17.5m for lost commission on a superyacht purchase.
The founder of brokerage Cecil Wright & Partners says Nik Storonsky should pay 5% commission on a yacht he bought on the company’s advice in January.
The British firm, which says Storonsky went “behind its back”, filed the claim in London’s High Court on July 14th.
“Having spent more than three decades in yacht brokerage, I have never previously had cause to do this. The fact that I am doing so now reflects the strength of my conviction,” Cecil-Wright told Superyacht Investor.

Cecil Wright claims a representative of Storonsky approached the firm about building a new yacht in October 2024. Storonsky‘s team then asked the broker in 2025 about available yachts to buy in the meantime, according to the court filings.
Cecil Wright says it advised Storonsky to buy a 102m Lürssen, which was nearing delivery.
However, it alleges that in January 2026 an adviser told Cecil-Wright that Storonsky had bought the yacht direct from the owner, Canadian businessman Patrick Dovigi.
The broker claims it is owed the commission fee on the $350m purchase because its work was the “effective cause” of the transaction.
A spokesperson for the Storonsky family office reportedly told the Financial Times the claim was “without merit and will be defended”.
