Sanlorenzo has reported 128 projects under construction at the end of 2022, making it the largest single brand shipyard in yachts over 24m.

The Italian shipyard is second only to the Azimut-Benetti Group and has recorded 17.5% growth in its order book, compared to last year. Sanlorenzo accounts for almost half (47.6%) of Italy’s share of global production.

“We expect the resilience of luxury yacht demand to the deteriorating macroeconomic backdrop to continue,” the company said in a statement. It added that it predicts the increasing visibility of future growth prospects provided by the backlog will support its stock price performance too.

Sanlorenzo’s backlog stood at €1.7bn ($1.76bn) at the end of its third quarter in September 2022. It made a pre-tax profit of €73.4m for the first nine months of this year – up 43.1% compared to €51.3m in the first nine months of 2021.

Its Superyacht Division had sales of €138.4m for the third quarter. Sanlorenzo says this was led by Steel Line and the new X-Space range.

The shipyard added that tBoat International’s Global Order Book report highlighted 1,203 ongoing projects over 24m worldwide, representing an increase of 17.5% from 2021.

The ranking reportedly highlighted strength in the 24m to 27m segment, with an increase of 25.6% from last year.
