Pelorus is now accepting cryptocurrency from customers. It is working in partnership with crypto-focused financial company Hayvn to accept and process payments.

The charter and travel experience specialist is enabling customers to charter and purchase experiences using digital blockchain currencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, USD Coin and USD Tether.

Pelrous said that it aims to expand its international client base without incurring bank or currency exchange fees. It also hopes the new payment methods will minimise the wait time on ensuring funds clear.

Geordie Mackay-Lewis, co-founder and CEO, Pelorus said: “We are excited to be launching crypto currency solutions for our clients, which is very much in line with our customer journey and Web3 strategy.”

Pelorus’ crypto payment gateway will enable clients, especially those invested in crypto assets, to secure their bookings without having to convert to traditional currencies. It can also send clients a payment link via email or WhatsApp to complete their booking.

Together with Hayvn, this allows our clients to pay for travel and yacht services seamlessly, without having to convert to fiat first,” said Mackay-Lewis.

Jonathan Wood, chief commercial officer, Hayvn said: “Hayvn’s business solutions enable businesses such as Pelorus to receive cryptocurrency payments from anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds.”

Hayvn is regulated by financial institutions such as the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) and Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA).

The companies claim that all transactions will undergo an anti-money laundering screening process to assess the level of risk associated with each crypto asset received. If the asset has been unlawfully obtained, the assets will be returned and another payment method requested.

This is not Pelorus’ first time using blockchain technology. Earlier this year, it launched a programme offering real-world benefits for owners of Oceanco’s digital Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs).

Along with the Dutch shipbuilders, it partnered with Bozca Limitless Design studio to develop a series of uniquely identifiable digital artworks that will grant holders access to travel experiences among other benefits.

The digitally verifiable Superyacht NFT collection from Oceanco, designed by Timur Bozca, CEO, Bozca Limitless Design, gives owners access to Pelorus travel adventures around the world.

“Allowing clients to pay using cryptocurrency opens a new market for global luxury travel and experiences,” said Wood. “Welcome to the new economy.
