BWA Yachting to lead America’s Cup superyacht programme
BWA Yachting will lead the Superyacht Programme for the 37th America’s Cup (AC37) in Barcelona in 2024. As the event’s official operations partner, it will be responsible for managing all the event berth bookings and VIP experiences.
The Catalan city will play host to the Americas Cup race in September and October 2024. It was also chosen as the venue due to its extensive hospitality options and marinas to accommodate visitors and superyachts, according to BWA Yachting.
Antonella Della Pietra, managing partner, BWA Yachting Spain, said: “The America’s Cup Superyacht Programme will bring an impressive number of yachts to Barcelona. The owners, guests and crew will be welcomed as part of the America’s Cup family, enjoying privileged viewing positions for the races, premium berthing, and unique VIP experiences.”
BWA Yachting has long been a supporter of the event and played a central role in the Superyacht Programme at the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco in 2013 and at the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda in 2017.
“We are delighted to team up with the America’s Cup once again,” said Laura Esteve, chief business development officer, BWA Yachting. “We look forward to developing and delivering the best AC Superyacht Programme yet for Barcelona 2024.” Esteve project managed the 35th America’s Cup Superyacht Programme.
Held every four years, the sailing race event was first contested in 1851, predating the modern Olympic Games by 45 years. The US held a 132-win streak at the event, before being beaten by Australia in 1983.
The event’s CEO, Grant Dalton said: “Our vision for the AC37 is an entirely inclusive event, with a wide variety of shore-based AC race village activations and viewing options for everyone all the way through to a world-class AC37 Superyacht Programme where we look forward to working with BWA Yachting in delivering a quality service expected of the America’s Cup and Superyacht owners.”
