Blohm+Voss & Zaha Hadid’s Unique Circle
UK based architects Zaha Hadid and German shipyard Blohm+Voss have released images of their new venture.
Construction started in 2013 of ‘The Unique Circle’ – five 90 metre yachts – and ‘The Mother Ship’ – the 128 metre flagship of the fleet.
The ‘Mother Ship’, 128 metres
Traditional yacht designs exhibit a strict horizontal order, but this project sees a design of intense connectivity between the various decks. The vessel’s exoskeleton connect the various levels and decks of the ship seamlessly via expressive diagonals.
Jazz, The First of Five, 90 metres
90 metre superyacht Jazz is the first of the Unique Circle fleet that is technically specified in detail by Blohm+Voss naval architects. The design is genetically linked to its 128 metre ‘Mother Ship’. There is unseen continuity between the indoor and outdoor areas resulting in layered views of panoramic quality.
‘The Unique Circle’
The remaining four vessels in this fleet have been based on the conceptual design and technically-verified Jazz, but also have been designed to comply with different requirements to meet the individual requests of their designated owners. The density or intensity of the unique ‘lattice’ design, for instance, varies on each yacht.
