MB92 Barcelona gets €40m funding, 10-year extension

MB92 Barcelona will receive a €40m investment for infrastructure and technology projects.
Superyacht refit and repair firm MB92 Barcelona has received a 10-year extension of the existing shipyard concession and an increase in the shipyard area following a €40m investment pledge.
The concession will now run to 2050 with the shipyard area to be increased by 4,000msq.
Over the next two years, MB92 will invest on new and existing infrastructure and technology development.
“This agreement gives us the space and long-term certainty allowing us to further invest in the shipyard to meet our clients’ needs in the years ahead,” said Jordi Ariet, MD of MB92 Barcelona. “The additional capacity and improved infrastructure will provide more efficiency and further elevate service quality as we continue striving for excellence, enabling us to handle increasingly large and complex projects for our clients.”

Notable projects include a new 680-tonne telescopic Travelift, which will serve five hardstanding spaces for yachts up to 55 metres. A a new 110-tonne electric Travelift will provide lifting capacity for tenders and smaller support vessels.
MB92 will also focus on its environmental footprint, improving how water is collected, treated and reused across the shipyard. One initiative, AiguaNova, launched in 2025, recovers greywater from the local leisure centre to wash yachts and clean facilities.
The company plans further investment after 2028 which will pave the way for a further five-year extension.
“The Group has established a strong international reputation at the top of the refit market, built over more than three decades by staying close to its clients and evolving with their needs,” said John Nery, managing partner and head of investments at Squircle Capital.
“This programme will help MB92 build on those strengths and further enhance the service it provides. The successful conclusion of the concession process is further testament to the strength of management and relationships with internal and external stakeholders including port authorities.”
Squircle Capital, a pan-European private equity firm, has been the major shareholder of MB92 since 2019.
The Barcelona yard is part of the MB92 Group alongside MB92 La Ciotat, MB92 Red Sea and MB92 Golfe-Juan.
