Yacht show cancellations continue into 2021
The cancellation and postponement of yacht shows, which has become a common theme of this year in response to the global pandemic, is set to continue into 2021.
Boot Dusseldorf, one of the last shows to run before the onset of the pandemic back in March, has announced the 2021 edition will take place from April 17th – 25th. The event was originally due to take place from January 23rd – 31st. Organisers said: “Messe Düsseldorf has postponed boot after close consultation with its partners and exhibitors who endorse this decision and have opted in favour of the new dates.”
The Miami International Boat Show, due to take place in from February 11th – 15th 2021, has been cancelled by its organisers. “The health and safety of everyone involved in producing, attending and exhibiting at our shows is of utmost importance. Following a thorough analysis of the local market and our safety-first principles, we have decided to cancel this year’s 2021 Miami International Boat Show,” said the organisers.
In the Caribbean, The Antigua Charter Yacht Show, due to take place in this the first week of December, has now been cancelled. Organisers said it is with “heavy hearts” that they announce the cancellation of the 59th Antigua Charter Yacht Show, due to the resurgence of Covid-19 and the subsequent risks to all involved in the show.
Adding: “Next year we will be celebrating 60 years since the first Charter Yacht Show in Antigua and we have already started working to make next year’s show one with a difference for brokers, captains, vendors and press. We will be sending out these exciting changes in the New Year.”
Jump across the globe to the Persian Gulf, and the Dubai Boat Show has been cancelled following and initial postponement. Originally due to take place from March 10th – 14th, the show was moved to November 24th – 28th, but has now been cancelled and the 2021 edition will take place on March 9th – 13th in Dubai Harbour.
Organisers said: “Following close consultation with Dubai Harbour and Dubai International Boat Show stakeholders, Dubai World Trade Centre shall reschedule Dubai International Boat Show to March 2021, when Dubai Harbour will be fully operational to offer the most seamless marina lifestyle experience to all international event participants, yacht owners and residents.”
