Isle of Man Registry goes online
The Isle of Man Ship Registry announced today that they will start processing applications for STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) endorsements online.
An STWC endorsement signifies that the bearer meets certain safety and training standards and is required for mariners to sail on Isle of Man registered vessels. The registry currently deals with over 3,000 applications for STCW endorsements a year. Now operating online, crew managers will be able to apply online and submit all supporting documentation via electronic forms.

Already recognised as one of the world’s leading ship registers with a reputation for high levels of service, this is another milestone in driving efficiency improvements and further improving the service to international clients. This move to an online process dovetails perfectly with the Department’s commitment to the Island’s digital strategy.”
“This next step in our online offering will greatly improve the service for clients by reducing application times and paper usage,” continued Dick Welsh, Director of the Isle of Man Ship Registry. “Staff and clients both see great advantages in this online system and it will help us stay ahead of the competition.”
The online service has already been tested by some existing clients of the Isle of Man Ship Registry and has been reported as a success. The system is now available to all of the Registry’s customers.
