SY32 project up for sale as it heads to scrap

New Zealand demolition firm Ward Demolition Limited is planning to scrap the 49.5-metre Project SY32 in March. However, it is offering the unfinished project for sale before being demolished.

The unfinished yacht was seized in March last year after its builder, Sensation Yachts, went into liquidation in 2009 and is just now being offered up for sale. The project features a complete hull and superstructure, which was under construction.

Commenting on the boat, Ward’s managing director Peter Ward told “It’s still brand new, it’s never been used. The owners have already spent millions on it, and we have been told that it’s up to code to the point that it has been built.”

SY32 planned to accommodate 12 guests in five guest cabins, with further accommodation for 18 crew. The yacht’s displacement was 280 tonnes and it had a beam of 9.2 metres.
