Sembcorp Marine reports cyber attack

Marine engineering firm Sembcorp Marine has reported a cybersecurity incident where an unauthorised party accessed part of its IT network via third-party software.

According to a statement released by the company, personal information of its incoming, existing, and former employees was affected. This also included “non-critical” information about the company’s operations.

In a statement, it said: “This cybersecurity incident is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets or consolidated earnings per share of Sembcorp Marine for the current financial year.”

Sembcorp Marine said it took immediate actions to mitigate further risks, conducting detailed analytics to rid all breaches and determine the root causes. It will now review and enhance security measures to further strengthen the company’s core IT infrastructure and systems.

After investigating and assessing the impact of the attack, the company said that its cybersecurity experts have effectively addressed the incident and related risks the attack may pose. Its business operations remain unaffected throughout.

The company is continuing to work with relevant authorities on this matter.
