MarineGuard Systems acquires offshore firm EPIC
Superyacht security system provider MarineGuard Systems has acquired Exploration and Production Information Company (EPIC) for an undisclosed sum. MarineGuard’s expertise lies in the design, manufacture, and installation of automated security systems on superyachts.
Scotland-based EPIC specialises in the supply and support of personnel tracking, offshore logistics and evacuation systems worldwide. The company also provide expertise in electronic-mustering systems, which entails crew being assigned a tag with select permissions applied, enabling them to access a room or control machinery.
EPIC offers technical solutions to help businesses track staff operating worldwide. It also offers an information technology consultancy service.
The acquisition aims to consolidate MarineGaurd’s offerings to security on superyachts and improve HSE compliances for crew safety.
Ian Traquair, MD, EPIC said: “The combined talents and experience of EPIC and MarineGuard staff will provide a solid base for growth and development meeting current and future innovative challenges.”
EPIC track over 25,000 offshore industry personnel daily and have delivered over 100 projects globally. The company records around 30m bridge and gangway movements recorded annually.
Richard Webb, CEO, MarineGaurd said: “Having been introduced to Ian and the work they do at EPIC, it was remarkable to see the core product similarities despite the differences in the end application. The more we talked the more evident it became that the two businesses could benefit one another.”
The transaction was completed on July 5th, with the price and terms undisclosed. EPIC was advised by CapEQ corporate finance and law firm Vialex. MarineGuard was advised by Prism Corporate Broking, law firm BDB Pitmans and consultants RSM.
“We are very excited for the next phase for both companies as we pool resources and industry knowledge to drive new business opportunities globally,” added Webb.
