This year’s show features a Superyacht Village, capable of handling luxury yachts up to 122 metres in length.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the world’s largest in-water boat show, which opens in October, is to feature a new Superyacht Village, as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations.

Billed as “the crown jewel” of the event, the Superyacht Village will feature an exclusive marina and on-land destination area that will display the most spectacular yachts in the show. The marina is equipped to accommodate vessels of up to 122 metres.

Open to all general admission ticket holders, the village will display “some of the world’s most spectacular vessels and exhibits by renowned shipyards”, according to the organisers. Also on display will be yacht “toys” – including helicopters and personal submarines – in addition to collectable cars and other luxury items designed to “showcase the superyacht lifestyle” said the organisers.

The 3.5-acre village will be located at Pier Sixty-Six Hotel & Marina’s new “Pier South” property. “The growing number of large yachts exhibiting at the show continues to attract affluent buyers and superyacht charter clients,” said Andrew Doole, president of Informa U.S. Boat Shows, one of the organisers.

‘Unique destination for the superyacht community’

“Thanks to a large investment by Informa and Tavistock community within this extraordinary boat show directly across from Port Everglades. We are excited to expand our partnership with Pier Sixty-Six as they embark on an exciting future to revitalise the iconic waterfront venue that has been part of the boat show history since its inception.”

Among the superyachts attending the event will be the 80-metre Excellence and the 26-metre Mansion Yacht. Excellence is the newest superyacht in the show and was launched by Abeking & Rasmussen and designed by Winch Design.

The mega-yacht features a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a beach club, and impressive custom limousine tenders. After its debut in May, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will be the vessel’s second appearance.

Made entirely of stainless steel

Mansion Yacht is said to be the first yacht made entirely of stainless steel with spectacular indoor and outdoor decks that will “soar high above the entire show”. The novel design features four 5.5-metre hydraulic legs each with a lifting capacity of a million pounds, which allows the yacht to stand up to 4.5 metres in the air in 1 metre of water.

Encompassing 9,000 square feet overall, the mansion yacht features a 6-metre elevated 214 sq metre furnished deck for panoramic water views.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is organised by Informa U.S. Boat Shows in cooperation with Tavistock Development Company and the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF). The event will take place between October 30th and November 3rd 2019.

Spanning more than 914,400sq metres of exhibit space, the show boasts seven waterfront locations connected by a network of water and ground transportation services. The five-day show attracts about 110,000 attendees and 1,200 exhibitors representing 52 countries with more than 1,500 boats on display each November.
