Severe storms in Italy have devastated many areas with officials putting the death toll at nine and damage costs into the millions.

The port of Rapallo which is popular with superyacht owners has witnessed the destruction of many boats including the 37-metre Suegno which belongs to Pier Silvio Berlusconi – son of former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Local news outlets show pictures of Suegno overturned and half-sunk in the port.

Reports in news publication Corriere Della Sera estimate that dozens of superyachts have crashed into the promenade. It is believed that the 6.5. metre dam which protects the port was unable to hold off severe weather and the yachts lost their moorings.

Suegno was built by Ferretti Custom Line in 2010. She can accommodate up to 10 passengers and 7 crew.
