Abacus strengthens yacht team with new appointment
VAT specialist Samantha Snow has joined Abacus as part of their ongoing plans to strengthen their yacht team and Malta office.
Snow will use her 15+ years of experience in VAT and Indirect Tax matters to support the Abacus Yachts team and help develop the Malta team’s client relationships and technical skills. She has worked for two of the Big 4 accountancy firms and began her career as a VAT Assurance Officer with HM Revenue & Customs in the UK.
Her previous experience in the yachting sector includes helping a client save over €1m in VAT in the purchase of his yacht using the Malta leasing scheme.
Paul Watterson, CEO of Abacus Malta, said: “We are delighted to welcome Samantha to the Abacus team. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in VAT and will play a key role in strengthening our yacht services offering as well as our services to private clients in an important and complex field.”
Paul Swindale, a Senior Manager, said “The timing of Sam’s appointment is excellent for us as we are seeing a significant increase in the number of enquires relating to luxury assets, especially yacht work in Malta. I have had the fortune of being involved in this market for over 4 years and to have someone with Sam’s skills and background is a key differentiator – it allows us to understand the client’s needs and work closely with our intermediaries in handling what can potentially be complex cross border VAT issues. Sam’s strengths in the indirect tax world, linked to the strength of our client service model for high net worth clients, is a key stake in the ground for us in growing this type of client”
